Landing Ships, Medium

LSM, LSM(R), LSV

Most recent update: January 6, 2018.

A total of 558 Landing Ships, Medium, or LSMs, were built in WWII by seven shipyards. The basic design - originally designated the LCT(7) - was 203.5 feet in length overall and 520 tons in light displacement. Sixty LSMs were configured as Landing Ships, Medium (Rocket), or LSM(R)s: the first 12 of these - #s 188 thru 199 - were converted LSMs and were the same length but 85 tons heavier, while the other 48 were built three feet longer and 245 tons heavier.
