Most recent update: August 24, 2021.

Carolina Shipbuilding Company was built in 1918 by the George A. Fuller & Co. and other investors. Its President was Lorenzo Dilks, who had been manager of American Bridge and who is credited with the concept of prefabricating hull steel off-site. Carolina SB failed in 1919 and Fuller took over, completing the company's contracts and closing the yard in 1922.
