Barbour Metal Boat Works started life in 1913 as Barbour Metal Boat Company, the name being changed in 1925. Their original yard was on the Meramec River, in Valley Park MO, just east of the railroad bridge, on the river side of Marshall Road, although it's hard to see where this was. They moved to Oakville MO in 1950, to a yard on the Mississippi, at 7598 Nellie Avenue, although it's hard to see any sign of a shipyard here either. In 1983, the company was sold to JB Marine Services, also in Oakville, who closed the shipyard, although they have recently started building boats at their facility at 4190 Bussen Road, using the name Barbour JB Shipyard.
