Metalcraft Marine

MetalCraft Marine Corporation was formed in 1987, when Monty Smith bought Kingston Aluminum Yachts, expanding it in 1996 by acquiring the adjoining Kingston Marina. Then, in 2007, he established a partnership with a small yard about 20 miles downstream, in Clayton NY, with a view to expanding into the protected U.S. market. This operation was initially called American MetalCraft Marine but the name was changed to MetalCraft Marine U.S., Inc., in 2009. The Clayton yard was later found to be too small, however, so in 2011 MetalCraft moved the operation to a new facility at the Anchor Marina in Cape Vincent. It is very difficult to track MetalCraft's output, because so many of these boats were built for small government agencies and don't appear in any public data source, and because they apparently use the same series of numbers for new construction, refits and other types of work.
