Bel-Aire Shipyard

North Vancouver BC

Most recent update: July 16, 2021.

Bel-Aire Shipyard was founded by George Fryatt in 1956. Initially, it was at the north end of Cardero Street, in Vancouver's Coal Harbour, on the site previously occupied by A. Linton & Co., next door to W. R. Menchion's shipyard. In 1963, Fryatt moved the company to a larger site, in North Vancouver, on the west side of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, where ABD Boats is today. See it from the air on Google here. Bel-Aire Shipyard closed in 1986 and ABD began operations in 1987, carrying on Bel-Aire's hull numbering sequence. In the table below, note that Bel-Aire started their hull numbering at 101 and numbered all contracts in a single sequence, including not only new construction projects but also repair and industrial work: as a result, there are many gaps in the table.
