US Army Tug-Transports (WWII)

(T, TP) Built During WWII

Most recent update: December 1, 2016.

In WWII, the Army built 170 65-foot, diesel-powered, passenger-cargo boats that doubled as harbor tugs, known as tug-transports, or T-boats. Most of these were apparently discarded after the war, because I can only find 70 that were listed in the USCG register, only four of which are currently active. There is very little record of what happened to the rest The Army's WWII fleet included 43 96-foot, diesel-powered, wooden, harbor tugs. The pennant numbers are those missing from the sequence of T-boat numbers.
