Defense Plant Corporation - DPC

589 vessels - 100 86-foot tugs, 21 180-foot towboats and 467 barges - were built during WWII by 34 shipyards for the use of the Defense Plant Corporation. Most were completed too late to be of much use to the DPC and were transferred to other agencies or sold.
