New York Naval Shipyard
Brooklyn NY
Most recent update: May 21, 2011.
New York Naval Shipyard was established in 1801 and closed in 1966. It was transferred to the City of New York and leased out in parcels. Initially the big docks were used by Seatrain Shipbuilding, an affiliate of Seatrain Lines, which built four large tankers there and then folded. Since then there have been various small repair contractors, none of which have been very successful. Visit the shipyard's current tenant here and see it from the air on Google here.
