International Shipbuilding
Orange TX and Pascagoula MS
Henry Piaggio was a lumber dealer in Gulfport MS and a remarkable man, an Italian immigrant, who went to war with Germany two years before the U.S. did. His goal was to ship lumber from the Gulf Coast to Italy in his own fleet of fast sailing ships. His main yard was on Harbor Island in Orange TX, which he bought from F. H. Swails and which many years later became Levingston Shipbuilding. He also started a yard in Pascagoula MS, and another in Beaumont TX. They all closed in 1920.
