Jones Panama City

Panama City FL

Most recent update: August 7, 2021.

J. A. Jones Construction Company's Panama City operation was an emergency yard, built with 6 ways in the fifth wave of shipbuilding expansion with $13mm invested by MARCOM. At its peak Jones Panama City employed 15,000 people. The shipyard was known as the Wainwright Shipyard, after General Jonathan Wainwright. It was located at 5321 West Highway 98, closed after the war, was used for ship scrapping for several years and is now part of the Port of Panama City. See the site from the air on Google here.
