P-Type Passenger Ships

Most recent update: April 12, 2008.

The passenger liner "America" was MARCOM's first ship and the liner "United States" is generally considered to have been its last. Both were built by Newport News, our greatest shipbuilder. In between, three shipyards built 23 troopships and after the war ended, Quincy and New York Ship built five additional passenger liners. In addition, countless cargo ships were converted to troopships.
