Gulf States R. & D. Corp.

Tarpon Springs FL

Most recent update: August 5, 2014.

Gulf States R. & D. Corp. was formed in the early 1960s, for the development of a new design of fiberglass trimaran, called the Corinthian 41. The company folded after building only a few boats but the work was carried on by a new company, called Corinthian Yacht Corporation and wholly owned by Carl Vossberg, Jr. The yard's output is said to have consisted of 27 41-foot sailing trimarans, but the Coast Guard registry only shows eight. The yard closed in the early 1970s and the site was essentially abandoned for about ten years, until Corinthian Yachts, Inc., Corinthian Catamarans LLC, was formed. See it from the air on Google here: it's the unlabeled facility between Duckworth Steel Boats and Quality T-Tops.
