Ballard Marine Railway

Seattle WA

Ballard Marine Railway (and the related company, Ballard Shipbuilding) was a significant small shipyard from the 19th century through WWII. It was taken over in 1946 by Pacific Fishermen, a collective of Ballard fishermen who wanted control over who repaired their boats. Visit them at pacificfishermen.com and see the yard, which is at the foot of 24th Avenue NW.
