Deering & Donnell
Bath ME
Most recent update: October 3, 2020.
In 1860, William T. Donnell bought the Hitchcock shipyard, on Washington Street, near Marshall Street, where the Maine Maritime Museum is today, and began building ships. He was joined by Gardner Deering in 1866 and operated as Deering & Donnell until 1886, when Deering left and started his own business in the former Flint & Chapman yard, which was immediately next door. Donnell carried on on his own, bringing his son Harry into the business.
